Robert
J. Camoin, CEcD
Principal
With
over seventeen years of economic and business development
experience, Robert formed Camoin Associates based on the
belief that successful economic development requires the
gathering and interpretation of sound data, and the
development of initiatives that are supported by its
findings. While
Robert is involved in all of the firm’s projects, his
areas of expertise include commercial and industrial
market analysis, business expansion financing, economic
development application preparation, strategic planning
and commercial area redevelopment strategies.
His

Robert
has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in
finance and economics from St. Bonaventure University
and a Master of Urban Planning degree from the State
University of New York at Buffalo. In addition, he
is a Certified Economic Development Professional through
the International Economic
Development Council (IEDC) and has
completed Masters level business coursework at SUNY
Albany.
Robert
completed his written thesis on the
Impact of the U.S. - Canada Free Trade
Agreement on the Western New York Economy
and wrote
Community Planning for the Impact of
E-Commerce
published in the April 2000 American Planning
Association Economic Development Division newsletter.
He has made numerous presentations to economic
development and municipal officials about conducting
economic development strategies, commercial market
analysis and securing funding for economic development
projects. He presented
“3 Critical Ingredients to Successful
Economic Development”
during
a forum sponsored by Colgate University’s Upstate
Institute and participated as a Small Business
Development Technical Assistance Advisory to the Warren
County “Thinkubator” business plan review panel.
Robert
is an active member of the International Economic
Development Council (IEDC) and participated in
their New Orleans Business Recovery Advisory Program.
Robert is also a member of the Northeast Economic
Development Association (NEDA), the New York State
Economic Development Council (NYSEDC) and the American
Planning Association (APA).

Michael’s
work at Camoin Associates includes impact analysis,
feasibility studies, adaptive re-use plans and market
analysis – all centering on helping communities
understand the financial implications of economic
development initiatives while maximizing their
effectiveness. His expertise in economic and fiscal impact modeling systems
brings a unique and comprehensive financial perspective
to projects in New York State and elsewhere. Michael also helps plan for the redevelopment of
underutilized properties in a way feasible in today’s
real estate market and respectful of the communities in
which they are located.
Michael
has extensive experience leveraging the benefits of the
New York State Empire Zones Program. He currently administers the Watertown Empire
Zone on behalf of the City of Watertown.

N’dolo has a Master of Public Administration degree

fiscal impact analysis, and has utilized SPSS, a
statistical modeling system for numerous research
projects. Prior
to working at Camoin Associates, Mr. N’dolo was
involved in facilities planning at the University of
Minnesota and was a business consultant for a property
management company located in an Empire Zone in New
York.

Lorentz is currently involved in all aspects of the firm’s

Ms.
Lorentz holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the
University of Maryland, with a specialization in public
sector financial management. She studied public finance,
analysis of local fiscal conditions and urban policy
while at Maryland.
Before
coming to Camoin Associates, Carmen worked with the New
York State Division of the Budget in their local
government unit, where she was responsible for analyzing
state economic development policies, local fiscal
distress and local governance issues.
Carmen
finished her undergraduate work in international affairs
at the George Washington University and spent a number
of years doing advocacy work on foreign policy issues
and working for an international grant-making foundation
in Washington, DC.

Ben
Zimmerman joined Camoin Associates in 2008 after earning a
Master of Science in Planning from the University of
Arizona. His degree specialized in land use
planning and community development, and included a
variety of planning projects related to economic and
community development. While completing his
graduate degree, Ben worked for Drachman Institute in
Tucson, Arizona, where he focused on housing and
community development needs in rural Arizona
communities. Ben also holds a Bachelor of Arts in
Human Geography degree from the University at British
Columbia.

E. Wantuch

Administrator
In addition to overseeing internal administrative functions for
the firm, Dana is also responsible for grant writing
and the administration of economic development and
downtown revitalization programs for our
clients. Dana earned a Master of Library Science
degree from the University at Albany while working as
part-time library assistants at Empire State Development
Corporation and an Albany law firm.
She has previously worked as assistant law
librarian and library director in private law libraries
and is a member of the Association of Law Libraries of
Upstate New York and the American Association of Law
Libraries.
