Camoin Associates, as part of the AWS Truewind team, selected to conduct economic assessment and strategy for future Great Lakes Off Shore Wind Generating Project

Camoin Associates, Inc., as a subcontractor to AWS Truewind, (AWST) was selected by New York Power Authority (’ÄúNYPA’Äù) to provide economic development related consulting services pertaining to the NYPA’Äôs Electric Capacity and Energy from a Great Lakes Offshore Wind (GLOW) Generating Project. Camoin will assist the AWST team with completing a baseline of information on the range of resources and assets (infrastructure, existing manufacturing, labor, research institutions) that exist within the New York’Äôs Great Lakes region, and can be utilized to help jumpstart an offshore wind energy industry. The team will also develop an economic impact analysis to measure the impact of creating one or more offshore wind parks in one or more of the Great Lakes. This task also requires the team to gather information from wind turbine component suppliers to understand what conditions need to exist for them to consider expanding their operations and locating a facility in the Great Lakes region. Finally, AWST will provide recommendations on new policies, programs, or incentives that could be offered to increase the probability that the economic development initiatives outlined by the bidders will be realized.

ANCA currently is assisting the Franklin County Board of Legislators to pursue funding to study ways the County and its municipalities can strengthen county-wide planning and support for community planning efforts. Local government support for the effort will help secure the grant, according to State officials. Contact Greg Hill at ANCA (518.891.6200) to learn more about the planned meeting and the study’Äôs purpose. More information about the grant and application process also can be seen in a relevant report published recently in the Plattsburgh Press Republican.
